Well it has been WAY too long since I have updated this blog. With Christmas coming up and everything else going on in our lives, this blog has been seriously neglected.
Nathan was sick for a while and we took him to the doctor multiple times because his fever would not go away. Initially we were told to ride it out because it was a virus and there was nothing they could do. Eventually, the last time we brought him in, he was given an antibiotic because it had moved to his chest and he needed it to clear him up. Of course that led to a week of the nebulizer (first time we had to use it this year) and eventually the cough/congestion disappeared. Unfortunately, with his history, I’m sure it will not be the last time we use that nebulizer this year.
Between Christmas shopping, holiday parties, and work-related commitments, it has been a little hectic around here. We were able to put up our tree and most of our decorations the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Yes, we are one of those families that decorate before it’s even December. We’ve wrapped our gifts, made our fudge and cookies and are patiently awaiting next weekend’s festivities. I can’t wait to see how Nathan reacts to presents this year. Last year, he was not that interested and Grandma ended up opening most of his gifts on Christmas Eve and Mommy and Daddy did many of the remaining ones Christmas Day. I have a feeling he is going to be more interested in the packaging than the gifts, but we’ll see!
Nathan is doing great 🙂 We recently switched our physical therapy to center-based instead of home-based. This means that instead of the PT coming to the babysitter’s house, I take him on Tues/Thurs afternoons to a gym where he works with a PT. We went for the first time on Thursday and although he didn’t LOVE it (he screams every time someone makes him “work”), he did do fairly well with the new PT. She is very sweet, and to top it off, her name is Jessica! For those of you who don’t know, our first, very LOVED, PT, Jessica, left us in July to have her beautiful little girl 🙂 We miss her tremendously! But I am hoping this will work out and allow Nathan to progress as we know he can. He also recently got orthotics for his feet and legs. They are basically pieces of molded plastic that were fit to his legs to help give him stability for standing/walking. I know these will help him too!
Nathan has recently learned to point to his nose, mouth and head, when asked. We are working on other body parts, but he is doing well with these so far! He also seems to understand and respond to questions and comments much better than just a month ago. He is so interactive and funny! Check out this video of him showing off some of his skills…
Now, I PROMISE to do my best to keep up with this blog and update as often as I can. I will get some good Christmas pictures/videos and share them on here as fast as I can. Here are some pictures we took for our Christmas card. Enjoy!
“What the heck is this thing???”
